Weekly Homework

Current Events happen every week. Students have 7 days to complete this one homework assignment. This assignment requires students to read a newspaper article, internet article, or magazine article that has something to do with the United States. No sports or entertainment articles. Students then write a summary using the Current Event form, attach the article and turn it in on the last school day of the week...usually Friday. We will spend some time in class on Fridays discussing a few articles.

History's Mysteries

History's Mysteries is a weekly semi-research project. Students compete for fabulous prizes...well, chocolate bars...and for the right to have their name in lights...well, actually on a big board in the room. Each day a clue is revealed. Students can keep track of them and put the pieces of the puzzle together. They can submit their guesses on a piece of paper and place them in the Hystory's Mysteries box in class. All guesses must be in the box by Friday at 4:00. Email submissions are not accepted. Winners are revealed on the following Monday. In case of a tie, the winner will be chosen at random. Good Luck!

Where we are headed

We are moving into early explorations of North America and setting the base for our future discussions surrounding the American Revoulution.

Civil War Reenactment Information

Once again, we will be recreating a battle from the Civil War on April 23, 2009 at Lake Village Park. This activity requires a fair amount of preparation and volunteers. If you are interested in volunteering, please contact me via email and I will place you on "the list". A copy of the packet along with the required permission slip can be found here. Please attach the fee with the permission slip and student contract.
