Rules and Consequences:

  1. To respect everyone and their property.
  2. To be prompt and bring all necessary materials and assignments.
  3. To follow directions as they are given.
  4. To be considerate and wait to be recognized before speaking.
  5. Chewing gum, eating food, and personal grooming are not allowed in class.
  6. Cell phones and Ipods are not allowed in class.

***Detentions will be assigned for every third Discipline Slip, beginning with the sixth. Notice will be given to the students in writing at least two days prior to the scheduled detention.

Grading

Grading will be in accordance with District and School Policies. Grades are divided into four categories, Test/Quiz, Labs, Projects, and Class/homework, each being worth 25% of the trimester average. We will begin Homework in class with complete instructions and directions. Long -term assignments such as reports, investigations, experiments and problem solving will be assigned with sufficient notice. Late work for full credit will not be accepted, unless it is the result of an excused absence. Ten points will be deducted for each day late, a maximum grade of 70% after 5 school days.

Course Outline:

District Science Standards I-VI: Investigations, Physical, Life, and Earth Sciences, Technology and Society and Connections. More explicitly: Scientific Method, Experiments, Lab Report Writing, Collecting Data, Graphing, Manipulation of Variables, Outdoor Education Preparation, Environments, Ecology, Rocks and Minerals, Earthquakes, Volcanoes, Space, and Microscopes.
